“This man is someone to watch out for:
his powerful voice and acting skills
were apparent to all!”
-TODAY

After growing up in Asia as the son of overseas relief workers, David graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music-Theatre from Wheaton College. A year later, he was granted membership into the American Actor's Equity Association when he took to the stage as Sparky in Forever Plaid. For nearly a decade since then, Sanborn has had the rare opportunity of making his living solely from acting and singing. He has been featured in dozens of TV and radio interviews around the world and has received accolades from such internationally-renowned media organizations as MTV and Elle Magazine. He has starred as Tony in West Side Story, as Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas and as Peter in The Witness, to name a few.

In the midst of all the theatre work, plus small roles in TV sitcoms (such as Boy Meets World and On Beat Street) and commercials, Sanborn longed for an opportunity to communicate his passion for God through his theatrical talents. So he enlisted his Mother, Ellen (an accomplished singer/songwriter/actress herself. Prior to becoming a relief worker, she had shared the marquis with such legends as Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn), to co-write Song of the Shepherd with him, while drawing on his Dad's wisdom to keep him accountable.

After performing Song of the Shepherd for tens of thousands of people, David and Ellen finished writing a full-scale musical version of Judah Ben-Hur. For the World Premier of Judah Ben-Hur in 2001-2002 (at Singapore's Cultural Centre), they raised
millions of dollars with the assistance of such talents as Andrew Lloyd Weber's long-time production manager, Martin Heap, and set designer, Sean Cavanagh, as well as an international cast and crew of 120 people. Ellen and David played the mother-and-son roles of Miriam and Judah Ben-Hur.

In the midst of continuing the extensive groundwork necessary to bring Judah Ben-Hur to Broadway, David now takes every opportunity he can to perform Song of the Shepherd. He and his parents occasionally offer 2-day performing arts workshops.
