Recommendation of Song of the Shepherd

The following is a transcript of an unsolicited letter sent by Dr. Mike Womack to his colleagues, after he saw Song of the Shepherd. Since the writing of this letter in 1998, we have received many more, all of which have been very appreciated and helpful in getting the word out about Song of the Shepherd.

We recently hosted one of the most incredible and creative ministry events I have ever witnessed. Try to imagine, if you will, a two-act play -- a musical drama -- a one-man production centered on the life of David.

Now let your mind try to capture how one man might portray 22 separate characters in that 1-1/2 hour drama. Consider how that a single chair, a small box, and a simple robe would be the only props utilized. Imagine that all of the dialog is directly from the books of Samuel and that the original scores are based on the Psalms of David.

It's hard to imagine how this might look. Let me assure you it is a powerful presentation, filled with beautiful music, wonderful acting, appropriate comedy, and high drama. Have I got your attention yet?

Let me introduce to you David Sanborn. He grew up in Thailand and Malaysia, a graduate of the Wheaton College Conservatory and a young man of incredible gift. He travels about the country on a freewill offering basis presenting his musical about King David, Song of the Shepherd.

This young man is the "real McCoy." He will come to your church at absolutely no cost. He requires no minimum and no advance. He charges for no travel expense. (There may be exceptions to that policy - I don't know). He stayed in our home. We fed him a couple of meals and we took a free-will offering during intermission. After the service he does have tapes available but asked me to offer them for free should anyone not be able to afford the $9 to $12 cost. He has a great spirit about him and is very professional in his presentation. I hope you will use him. I have every confidence that you will thank me for the recommendation after it is over.
